Interestingly enough I’ve had it in the back of my mind to have a day of “doing nothing.” For the time being it’s not very practical, but this morning I decided I’m going to focus more on listening more than talking. Life is a mirror, so I should spend more time paying attention to what it has to teach me.

I would suggest a couple of things to have/create Durable Fulfillment:

First, gain perspective. Understand what it is you do, why you do it, and then realize that eventually you’re going to die (just like everyone else) and when you do, you can’t take anything with you except the experiences and knowledge gained.

Second, figure out your purpose/goals and a vision of the end result. When you have a clear understanding of your purpose and goals…coupled with a vision of the end results…it will help you to accomplish everything that you have to even when things are at their worst.

Lastly, give yourself time. When you have such a compact schedule it is easy to neglect yourself…DON’T DO THAT!!! you are less effective and enjoy life less if you start to burn out.

I would highly recommend doing what a few tribes of American Indians used to do with their braves for the rite of passage into manhood. They would separate to a quite spot and the brave would fast, ponder, and simply be alone for a few days/week. They would talk with no one and no one would talk with them. They would simply be alone in the wilderness.

I think too often we get caught up with all the things of life and thereby miss something very precious: the joy of living. There is a real joy in doing what’s right, in living your life in harmony with everything and everyone around you…but we often get so caught up in the affairs of the world, we miss out!
